Way to compress dynamic range on blu-ray and DVD audio?
Anyone have any suggestions on a way to compress the dynamic range of DVDs and Blu-rays?
I have a Home Theater PC that's connected to my TV. The TV's volume control goes from 0 - 60. To hear dialogue on most movies, it needs to be at 60. A comfortable level for music and sound effects is closer to 20. So, naturally, I have to sit there turning it up and down to accommodate.
I use Cyberlink PowerDVD 7, which has a "compress dynamic range" feature, which doesn't appear to work at all. Does anyone have any suggestions for third party software or equipment that can perform this task, or a setting that I may have missed?
Thanks!
You have a different problem
Your DVD player does not downmix properly the 5.1 channels, so since you don't have a Center channel you miss all the dialog!!
Go back to your settings and specify you have a 2-ch stereo system, not 5.1 or on the DVD menu specify 2-ch stereo NOT Dolby or DTS.
