Find the area enclosed by lines joining midpoints of sides of a square of side 1m to 2 opposite vertices?
ABCD is a square of side 1m. P,Q,R,S are mid points of AB, BC, CD and DA. P is joined with C and D and so on. These lines enclose a 8-gon[octagon]. Find its area without using any calculating aid. I mean No need to write 1.732 for Rt3 etc.
Area of the octagon formed by those lines is
= 8(13/160)^2cot(22.5degrees)
which you can calculate as I have no digital calculater.
