High quality RCA Speakers?
I recently found some really nice high quality RCA speakers at my local thrift store. I didn't think I would use nice and RCA and nice in the same sentence but it seems that these are really good quality. They sound really good especially for their size. They are bookshelf, have a 6.5 in. woofer and a fabric dome tweeter. They can get all the way down on bass tests and they have great highs. Did rca used to be more high quality or could these be mixed up?
RCA was a pioneer in the field of electronics way back. The actual company RCA no longer exists as a manufacturer and the name is licensed to several other companies.
RCA was bought by General Electric (GE) in 1986 and that is when things started to go down hill. GE basically sold off all of the companies that RCA owned and then basically scuttled RCA. GE killed RCA so to speak.
All the electronics that carry the name RCA today are made by Audiovox or the TTE Corporation.
So if your RCA product is from before the mid 80's it's probably pretty good.
