Blu-Ray Home Theater

ome after a hard day at the office and all you want to do is disappear into your home theater and travel off into a far away galaxy with your favorite Star Trek crew. Well, I don't know about you but I certainly do. And the part I look forward to is beefing up my home theater audio.

You know, home theater audio is a wonderful thing. It can literally take the roof off your home if you are not careful. Just watching Captain Picard and his merry band of Star Trekkers with the home audio theater vibrating at warp 9 levels just sends yours truly into entertainment heaven. Of course my walls are well sound proofed and my better half isn't home. So what do you want in a home theater audio system?

Most people want a home theater audio system that can rumble the floor with thunderous bass and can expose even the smallest details of sound with crystal clear sound quality. Finding equipment that does that properly is possible but can be complicated. It can certainly be a hassle when it comes to selecting the right equipment and, most of all, paying the right price for it.

A wide variety of the newer home theater systems offer a “home theater in a box” setup that integrates all of the aspects of your home theater system in one “box”. One or two boxes usually contain everything you need in terms of setting up your own perfect home theater experience, audio included. However, home theater in a box isn’t for everyone and some people prefer the old fashioned “build your own” method of theater arrangement. Knowing what you want out of a sound system is important, especially before going into the store.

First, listen to the speakers. There is no greater test for a good sound system than your own ears and what they’re looking for out of it is what you want out of your home theater audio. It is often recommended, and more stores allow this, that you take your own CDs or DVDs with you so that you can listen to the speakers using material you are familiar with. Go ahead and blast that Metallica if it helps!

Second, take size into account. There is no point in buying a sound system that will crowd the room. It is important, instead, to gather aesthetics in your point of view and try to plot out the home theater system room the best you can before you start shopping for huge speakers. The sound can be affected greatly by the amount of other objects in the room and the crowding, so it isn’t just because it might be ugly. Space makes a difference.

It's important to remember that in the end, what home theater audio system you decide on must satisfy you. There's no point in installing something because it's what someone else likes. You have to visualise yourself enjoying your dream home theater audio and then manifest it into reality by writing down the particular features you want before heading to your favorite outlet to give it a test run. It's your money; spend it wisely.
