ty of home theater in a box systems has increased significantly in the last couple of years. With the popularity of home theater at an all time high, it's not everyone's passion to mix and match and put one together on their own.
More importantly, a tailor made home theater could set someone back several thousand dollars, up to five figures in fact and that is quite simply out of the range and budgets of most home theater enthusiasts.
So what's the answer? Home theater in a box. And there is no shortage of options either with many of the big stores offering them at extremely attractive prices.
Price is the big issue here and while many may fall short of the quality of a "hand selected" system there is little doubt they fill a void and give people the opportunity to experience home theater who may otherwise not have been able too.
Advantages Of Home Theater In A Box
Any disadvantages such as lesser quality are more than compensated by things like price and ease of installation. Here are just some advantages of home theater in a box:
- The price is the biggest advantage. Did you know you can get a system for as low as $200-$300 while the high end models will set you back four figures up to $2000 however, this is still extremely cheap compared to more conventional systems.
- These systems generally will fit and adapt to any home theater room they are set up in.
- Installation is relatively easy. Also, there is no knocking down walls, major home renovations or rearranging your wife's furniture...well, we won't go there. A home theater in a box is used virtually straight out of the box.
- As the name implies, they basically come ready to use with no extra parts required. If you're not sure about this then confirm it with the salesperson selling you the unit.
Home Theater In A Box Models To Consider
There are lots of brands to choose from including Panasonic, Onkyo, Denon, Samsung, Pioneer and Yamaha. Panasonic have a couple of excellent choices. One is the Panasonic SC-PT760.
While the Sc-PT760 is excellent value at between $300-$400 it must be pointed out this model is really suited to movie watchers rather than music listeners. But you get great "bang for your buck" with this 5.1 channel home theater in a box.
It features wireless surround speakers as well as HDMI upscaling to 1080p. Panasonic are known for their upscale home theater selection but in the Sc-PT760, they are giving those on a tight budget the chance to experience it in their own homes.
Panasonic also have the SC-PT660 for between $200-$300 and this is an excellent choice again for those shopping on a budget. It has the features of it's cousin and the bottom line is, for less than $300 it's hard to beat for value. This is a great alternative home theater in a box to consider.
