One hundred manufacturers offer one hundred Models, each having one hundred distinct screen sizes plus comprehensive features. Now wonder these facts drive you mad. Hence, if you need assistance, you just need to look around the corner and do some inquiries.
One prevalent question which must first be considered by every television consumer is "which is better Plasma TV or LCD TV?" Why choose if both are televisions after all! In reality, it is not just that. In order for you to come up with the most appropriate decision, there are certain requirements you must first be well acquainted of. The following will surely aid you in your decision making process.
1. Size of the TV Screen: What size of TV screen do you prefer most? In what room will you set-up your television? In what spot in the room will you place the same and in what position? Will you rather place it in your Kitchen, or in your Bedroom considering that the screen size you are intending to choose is restricted? Or are you going to set the television in your living room since it can well accommodate a relatively Good Size of a screen?
Plasma Televisions are fairly cheaper when you desire one which has a vast screen size. In fact, if you desire to have something which has more than 32 inches in screen size, practicality dictates that plasma TVs are much cheaper as compared to cheap LCD TVs.
Normally, Plasma TV's are more massive as compared to its LCD Counterpart.
2. Lucidity: This is for the fact that there are unusual requirements that you may have aside from the Daily news you usually watch or cartoons your kids desire to watch. You might want to use your television for playing games and if you do so, your television must have excellent clarity plus instantaneous turnaround point for vision. In this case, there are few impediments and certain advantages that Plasma TV's have.
There is something known as burn area in a plasma TV. This arises when there is an image showed on the screen and stays there for a long duration in which there is a tendency that the image will be burned in the area. Like for example, the BBC Channel's logo displayed while you are watching the news for several minutes. In time, when you turn your Television off, you can still perceive an outline of the said Logo. This is not good if you are seeking for one which is to be used as a gaming TV. Literally speaking, burn in is actually absent in LCD TV's. This is true for all brands like Sharp LCD TVs and Panasonic LCD TVs.
In contrast, Plasma TV has with it a wonderful image contrast plus a distinctively better visibility on areas where there are dark images. Such amazing feature is something which is significantly lacking in LCD TVs. Nonetheless, the latest LCD Televisions have incurred great improvements throughout the years in this area, thus, resulting to a minimal difference between the two televisions. Samsung LCD TVs, for instance, have enhanced features. It cannot be denied, however, that a difference still exists. Also, LCD Televisions show a grizzled effect on the image and this causes deterioration of its image clearness most especially concerning the color factor.
3. Viewpoint: For LCD TVs, the viewing angle reaches the maximum of 160-175 degrees. However, the quality depreciates as the angle augments. Conversely, quality of Plasma televisions is actually upheld notwithstanding the fact that the angle reaches 160 degrees.
4. Screen Duration: Other than the fact that LCD TV features a screen life of 40 Years, it is coupled with four hours of television viewing a day. On the other hand, its Plasma TV counterpart has about 20 years screen life. More so, duration of LCD TVs can be counted for at least 20 years while a good ten years can be counted for a Plasma TV.
5. Use of Power: Although Plasma TV's are primarily cheaper, considering power consumption, the same will exhaust loads of electricity more than that consumed by an LCD Television. Hence, if you take a good look at your Cost Structure, you will notice that you are liable to pay your electricity bill in an amount more than the purchase price of the Plasma Television. This is not true regarding LCD TVs.
Final Decision:
If you greatly prefer a large screen television coupled with a great performance when you do a General TV viewing and if you only have a limited budget, you might as well go for Plasma. If, however, you intend to use your television for gaming or other similar purposes plus you desire one which lasts for a longer duration, it is better for you to purchase a LCD Television.

What Type of Sound System should I get to supplement my new Sharp LCD TV?
I don't need anything crazy, just something that provides nice surround sound that doesn't cost too much. $200 is about as high as I want to go, although, I'm not sure if I can find anything for that amount... I haven't even begun to look. Thank to everyone for your answers
I normally deal with high end systems, but I do have a little experience with LG HTIB's. (Home Theater In A Box) I have sold them to a few clients for their kids or employees and have been fairly impressed with the performance.
