Account limit of 2124 requests per hour exceeded.

When you want to have a full High Definition set up, there are 4 elements that you need to look at. These are: The HD movie, the player, the cable and the projector.

Keep in mind, there are no High Definition projection screens. Only those that can reflect in the best way what all the other elements get onto the screen.

So to get the best possible result you need all the other elements to be capable of high definition.

Let's have a look at all of them:

1.      The information source

Most likely this is a DVD, but it can also be material from a hard disk. This is where it all starts, because even if everything else is HD capable, if your source material isn't High Definition, the resulting image will not be as sharp.

2.      The player

When you have a high def disc and the player isn't capable of sending out an HD signal, that's where your HD adventure ends. So you have to make sure your player is capable of sending the right signal out. If it can, make sure to verify through which connector the signal is HD. That's because there are often more connections to the projector, but not all of them are HD. When we look at the cables, you'll see why

3.      The cables

Cables are often an afterthought, but for high definition projection they matter. A composite cable used to be common (it's that one that has a yellow, white and red connector attached to it one the output side), but it's not good enough for high definition projection. That's because it's not designed to carry a HD signal. Your most common options are component or HDMI cables.

4.      The projector

Once you have the source, the player and the cable all giving you an HD signal, you need the projector to be able to project the image in all its glory. That's not possible if your projector can not process the high definition signal or doesn't have the right connections.

Now that we have all the HD elements in place, let's have a look at the projection screen. A projection screen can not be an HD screen, as no matter what shines onto the screen, it will reflect it.

However, a smooth, wrinkle-free projection surface is a must. So look for the projection screen fabric that has those characteristics.

That's it, you all set. These are the elements you need to enjoy high definition in its full glory.

This insider information was brought to you by Otto Tromm in his quest to show you what goes on behind the screens. You know - the stuff that others are too scared to tell you about.

Using his experience as an award winning projection screen designer and founder of Beamax projection screens, Otto Tromm knows what matters when you want to get the most from your projection screen.

To find a projector screen that matches your taste, room, budget and projector, go to http://www.beamax.com

How can I connect a Yamaha Sound Projector to an X-BOX 360 Elite?

I have a 1080p HDTV and a DVD Recorder. I've connected them both to the Sound Projector via Optical Cable? How can I connect the X-BOX 360 Elite to the Sound Projector?

You had it correctly, connect the XBOX into the Yamaha amplifier with an optical cable.

However our set up is an actual home movie theater. 120 inch screen w/ Yamaha HD projector 7.1 sound. Our XBOX is connected directly to the Yamaha Amp via optical cable. Guitar Hero and Halo sound amazing!

Account limit of 2124 requests per hour exceeded.

It could be said that building your perfect home entertainment center is every man or woman's dream. In fact, it probably would be a good investment in the long run to invest in a home entertainment center with the way movies theaters keep raising their ticket price. One night out to the movie theater cost up to $20 per movie goers including ticket price, food and drink from the concession stand.

For every perfect home entertainment center, there are the basics, the must-haves that act as the groundwork for what all home movie theaters need in order to be given this title. Creating the perfect home theater entertainment center starts with selecting the right entertainment equipment and furniture. Here are a few basics to help you start building your perfect home entertainment center.

Flat-Screen LED-LCD High Definition Television

Without the television, there is no home entertainment center. If you have the money and the space, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a screen worthy of any movie theater. If not, buying a television within in your means and budget would be a wiser choice.

Home Theater Surround Sound System

The sound is just as important for an entertainment center as the television. You cannot have one without the other. A home theater system-speaker system, sound bars- the entire works is needed in order to get the quality surround sound that could turn your entertainment space into your dream theater.

Couch or Sofa

Having a couch or sofa that could help you relax and enjoy your movie or show is much needed furniture. As everyone's taste and style is different, it really depends on what you like when picking out your furniture, make sure you are satisfied with your purchase.

Recliner

A recliner isn't actually a necessity, but it is an option. There are some people who would disagree and would probably say that a recliner is a necessity for a perfect home entertainment center but again, it is a preference to the person decorating the room.

Coffee Table

A coffee table or any type of table is needed to place your drinks and food. Not only is the table needed for a place to eat, but also a table is needed for relaxation purposes. It definitely doesn't feel bad to kick back your feet and watch your favorite show or movie.

You can find comfortable seating and bedroom furniture, too, at your local Sandiego mattress store or by visiting http://www.jeromes.com.

i naad advice on a good stereo receiver that can crank out a lot of volume NO home theater or surround sound?

i love watching my movies very loud and i have 8 very loud speakers.I dont like all the home theater receivers.I just want a plain receiver that can handle a lot of volume

Doug - There is no stereo receiver that can handle eight speakers.

More speakers does not mean more volume. You would do just as well with two or maybe four good speakers. The more speakers you add, the receivers power just gets divided between them.

Now if you want more volume, you should add more amplifiers or receivers and then more speakers. Keep in mind, more speakers will not always give you better sound.

I personally like to keep things simple - two powerful speakers with a powerful amplifier is the best way to go.

If you're designing and building a home movie theater, you need to think about creating a fantastic sound environment with your home theater speaker placement. You'll find that five speakers and a subwoofer are standard with most surround sound systems.

For truly immersive sound that makes you feel like you're really "there," you'll need smaller speakers set up both behind and in front of your listeners. The best placement of these speakers can involve calculations based on sound waves and physics.

But that's needlessly complicated. Once you have a grasp of the general idea, you can experiment with different placements until you find the best solution that works for you.

Remember that's it's impossible to have a perfect surround sound system if the acoustics of your room aren't perfect to begin with-- and ten to one, your room is NOT acoustically perfect. Don't set yourself up for disappointment by expecting perfection.

You should trust your ears and decide on what works best for your home theater speaker placement. But feel free to use the manufacturer's instruction manual.

Center channel speaker -- The center channel speaker should be centered just beneath the screen. This will output on-screen sound such as conversations, so for the sake of realism you will want it very close to the television.

Front left and right speakers -- Ideally, these speakers should be installed at ear level when you're sitting. Theoretically you could get away with placing them higher by angling them downward, but you won't get the best results this way.

The movie soundtrack will come from these two speakers, splitting the stereo sound of the music. When you install these two speakers, they should be just as far away from the listener as the center channel speaker. Imagine an arc that encompasses all three speakers when viewed from above.

Surround speakers -- These speakers should be positioned right behind the listener to the right and left. They will be a good deal higher than the other speakers, approximately ear level when standing.

You can better experiment with the positioning if they come with stands or adjustable brackets. Find out how it feels like when you let the sound bounce off the walls first before listeners hear it; it can be surprisingly realistic.

how do i plug surround sound speakers into my tv when all i've got is speaker cable? do i need an amp?

santa got me some lovely surround sound speakers for crimbo...however...they don't come with red, yellow, white audio thing. all i've got is metres of speaker cable which is easy to stick in the back of the speakers but how do i hook it up to the tv? please don't tell me i need an amp!!!

sorry you need a receiver to run the speakers.

you can grab an entry level one like this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8249745&type=product&id=1169512508577

to start your first "home theater system" you will be able to add a center channel, rear speakers and a sub to that as well. Obviously you will be able to play your TV, comp, CD, DVD, video games through it as well
