Account limit of 2124 requests per hour exceeded.

There is really nothing more indulgent these days than having your own home theater system. I say indulgent, but the reality is that you can pick up some really good systems that won't cost a fortune. Thus the equipment is affordable but the decor and the furnishings are where you can really let your imagination run wild and create your own cinema at home. This article will discuss some of the things you can look into when creating your own home cinema experience with reference to the home theater decor.

I think home theater decor is determined by how much room you have. If you have the luxury to have a separate room for your home theater then you can go to town on the decor. You can create your own little cinema that includes all the thing that you associate with the multiplex cinemas that you find in town.

However most people don't have this room and have to fit the system into their lounge area. Thus the room has to function as a comfortable living room and a place to view movies. In this respect you need to be able to adapt the theater system to the existing furniture. Position it so that the most comfortable and popular seats have a good view of the screen. Place the speakers so that these seats get the best surround sound effects. Other seating can be moved to the home theater display unit when an if needed (If you have friends or family round).

If you have a separate room or decide to lean more towards creating a home cinema in you lounge then you can really start thinking about home theater decor. Home theater decor is essentially the different furniture and accents that you include in your home theater system design. There is a huge variety of ideas to choose from when doing this.

The first thing to think about is the seating. Most people go for home theater recliners theses days. They are large armchair type seating that is similar to the seat you will find in a proper cinema. They may have places to store your drinks and a footrest that can be extended to let you recline as you watch the movies. They come in all shapes and sizes and some will seat two people if you want a slightly more romantic viewing experience.

Of course these are not the ultimate in home theater seating. The latest seating that can make the viewing experience even more realistic are seats that vibrate or move based on certain sounds or movements in the movie. These are really great seats but cost a lot of money at present. Thus if you are watching a car chase and the rear end of the car skids out you may feel the chair fall back or shake at the back. The sound of screeching tires will be heard from the rear too and make the experience feel real.

Lighting is important in your home theater from aesthetic and practical viewpoints. The lighting should be positioned so that it does not interfere with the screen but is bright enough to let you move without bumping into things. In this respect a dimmer switch makes a lot of sense because you can control the amount of light at any moment. This is much like the lighting at the cinema, if you have noticed how the lights can be bright when there is an intermission, get a bit dimmer during the commercials and coming attractions and dim further when the movie starts.

There is no limit to the amount and styles of home theater decor that you can put in your home cinema. In fact, in practical terms, the only limits are the space and the amount of money you have to spend on the items.

Find reviews on the latest home theater components, including Home theater projectors at http://www.hometheaterreviewed.com .
ember clearly as a young boy our home theater decor; basically a television with a bunch of ornaments sitting on top of it and not much else. Fast forward to today and home theater decor has taken on a whole new look in fact, now, you have the ability to create a cinema style environment with all the "bells and whistles."

Home theater when I was a youngster was basically set up in a living room but home theater rooms today are generally separate from the other main living areas.

Home theater decor has become so popular in the 21st. century that it has spawned a new era of interior designers. Haven't got any idea how to set up your media room? Hire a home decor designer and your problems are solved. Well, almost as it will set you back a few dollars.

The Art Of Creating Home Theater Decor

Seriously though, setting up a true home theater room today has almost become an art form. I'm not kidding. First you need to design the room set up so that functionality doesn't become an issue. You want things within easy reach. You have to work out where the TV will sit; in many cases, it's a projection screen. Then there's the speakers; you've got to work out the lighting and flooring.

How about acoustics and not to mention the room interior. Furniture is an issue; people need to sit somewhere and yes, they'll need to place their food and drink somewhere. Phew! I think that's it!

In all honesty, most people would give "an arm and a leg" to be in aposition to decorate and set up a home theater room. Many home theater decor products are designed to make the experience fun. How about setting up theater posters and putting up a marquee?

Theater-style popcorn poppers, concession cases and pop machines;there's specially designed chairs, just like you would find in a theater and yes, they have cup holders with some models having snack holders as well. Also consider comfortable recliners with motorized application and not to mention buttkickers where the volume can be sent directly to the person's body. In fact, you get to feel the audio vibrations.

Home Theater Decor Comes To Life!

At the other end of the spectrum, home theater decor can be very elegant. Instead of Buttkicker chairs, there are intimate love seats...hmmm... sectionals and couches as comfortable as theater chairs. Art deco accessories always blend well with home theater decor, and rooms are often painted in the rich tones of the classic art deco theaters.

The home theater components are hidden in specially-made cabinets, while the speakers can be placed inside them or they could be hidden in the ceiling or wall. If you like, flat screen TV’s could be suspended into a cabinet. Alternatively, they could quite easily be mounted on the wall and covered when not in use.

There is no limit to how a home theater room can be set up today except budget but a prudent shopper with a little patience can find great home theater decor without too many problems. The thing to remember is, it will generally be an area of fun and entertainment so have fun creating it.

A home theater needs to be functional before it's anything else. Those who have put in the expense to build a "theater" in their home need to be sure the sound and visual and placement of seating is just right before they'll delve into decorating, but when that time comes, there are some tips to add to the room aesthetically without taking away any of the functionality.

A room of this sort is bound to have floor speakers, and speakers that surround your peripherals and centrally located speakers for both the front and back of the sitting area. In some of the newer homes or the more expensive remodels, some, if not all, of these speakers may be placed in the walls of the home. Yet usually the floor speakers will remain out and near the television. The tops of which may be a prime opportunity for knickknacks when decorating. There may be shelving on the walls in this room for speakers or for remote controls. Those shelves are also a great place for decorative touches.

A typical theater room is designed something like this: The television is centrally located either mounted on the wall or standing just in front of it. There are floor speakers on either side of the television and another smaller speaker centrally located above the TV. There will be more speakers either mounted or on stands placed on either side of the seating area and one more speaker centrally located behind the seating area. Finally, there will be a special speaker called a subwoofer placed somewhere to the side of the seating area. The seating area is located around what some refer to as the "sweet spot" because during the action scenes in intense movies when the music swells, the vibrations of that sound are felt in the seating area. All of this is necessary for the functionality of the theater room. What's left is what you have to decorate.

In order to keep the functionality of a theater room, you must realize that the room needs to be dark. This is no room for growing plants or bright colors painted on the wall. Rich earthy tones will work here. Along with this, keep knickknacks to a minimum. This room is for viewing the television, not your china collection. Do not place fragile things in this room. There will be much vibration in this room and that may cause a fragile item to fall from its perch and break. Keep your decor simple here. Use rugs to add color to the room and hang pictures to add depth to the walls. Do not clutter up this room with much more than this.

Before anything else, a home theater needs to be functional. If you'll also entertain in this room, keep your decor to a minimum and use unbreakable items. Add color through the means discussed above and be okay with a sparsely decorated room. It will provide much enjoyment and sometimes simple really is best.

Home theater in-wall speaker wire??

If bought a Harman Kardon 6.1 surround system and I got wiring through the walls but the wires run in the same pipe as the A/C wires, I've read many articles, ones say there shouldn't be any problem as the speaker cables carry strong signals a thus are not affected by the interference from A/C wire but others say they are affected and in order to avoid interference they must be placed at least 16 inches from each other. I'm really confused, I would like to know what can I do, is there going to be any problem, should I run new ducts through the wall or can it be fixed just with switching to shielded wire??

Thanks in advance.

I'm curious why your speaker wires are running inside pipes in your walls, that's strange for a residence. Generally you want your speaker wires to cross any AC lines perpendicularly to reduce any interference, but the best judge of whether there is a problem is your ears. It won't hurt your new system to try out the speakers, so long as you are sure you are plugging in the speaker wires and not an AC live wire (but you'd probably figure that out long before you got it near your stereo!). Take a listen, if there is a noticible hiss or distortion you'll probably want to re-run the wires inside the wall away from any AC lines, you can tell this by looking for any outlets or switches nearby.

I have a bose acoustimass 15 series one system and i am looking to add on another subwoofer, so do you guys reccommend one over the other?

The Outlaw subs are designed by Dr. Hsu of HSU Research. The Outlaw sub will outperform the Polk by a mile. Frankly, I think everything Polk is a bit overrated.

There is no hard and fast rule that dictates you need to spend a fortune on home theater setup. Let's face it, most of us are working on tight budgets yet we still crave some of the pleasures in life and if you are anything like I am, then great television output in comfortable surrounds is a must.

Home Theater Surrounds

In the United States, one great asset in many homes is the trusty old basement. Ask many Americans about how they utilise their basement and most will tell you they store stuff there. If you are one of those and have been craving a private area then give your basement strong consideration. Depending on it's condition, a basement offers ideal privacy and with the structure already in place, all that is required is some upgrade and maintenance and you are good to go. Again, this all depends on the condition of the basement.

So if you have a basement check it out; if you haven't been down there for awhile do a little surveillance work.

Decor

Home theater setup has one important aspect that can give it the feel of going to the cinemas. Simply put, it's the decor that can set a quality home theater apart from another. Come on, if you are reading this then I assume you have a particular love for spending quality time in a sedate setting watching your favorite Star Trek re-run or the Monday night game. You want to be surrounded by the appropriate decor don't you?

Decor can be an expensive addition if you don't do a little due diligence. Chairs, posters, pop corn machines, drink holder set ups... brand new, it can cost a lot of money. But there a ways to cut down this cost. Be prudent. Here are some helpful ways to find good cheap home theater decor:

- Flea markets are a great source for bargains. Often, hidden gems such as movie posters can be found at flea markets. Posters can set off your home theater setup just perfectly. Check your local classifieds and see if there is a local flea market held near you on a regular basis. Be prepared to travel a few extra miles

- The internet is an excellent source for seeking out home theater decor and accessories. Do a search on your favorite search engine and the results will literally jump out at you. eBay and Amazon spring to mind as definite source candidates as well as Overstock.

- Check local classifieds. In fact, check classifieds from interstate sources as well for home theater accessories. Items like chairs can be bought very cheaply through offline classifieds so don't ignore them as a definite source for items.

- Obviously shopping at local outlets is an alternative but if you are on a saving "binge" then again, be a little prudent. I will say though, without visiting outlets you could be missing out on short term specials so make them a shopping target at least once a month. Let the shop assistants know what you're looking for and leave your contact details. Also, read any reviews they have to offer.

Providing you have the basics such as a TV and DVR, then home theater setup can be fun. You can definitely cut down on cost and one thing to remember if you are on a budget is... be patient.

In our modern world, glass is an every day part of life, but this was not always so.

The elegant and ethereal medium known as "glass" is simply and basically made of sand, or silica and a flux; sodium or potassium. These elements fuse together when melted at a very high temperature, resulting in the product readily recognised as glass.

Glass is an ancient invention, having been produced for the past 5000 years and particularly since the development of techniques in the 18th century. The first glass makers were found in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, 5000 years ago with examples of this early glass surviving today.

At the time, it was seen as a very exotic product and study has shown that the simple techniques used were held as secret by those ancient artisans. The first glass products were rather crude bottles and flasks, produced by moulding the basic shape from mud. The modelled shape was held by inserting a short metal rod into one end with the shape then dipped into molten glass thus forming the "core" of the flask shape. Long molten threads of glass, known as "canes", were then wound around this basic shape until the flask or bottle was complete.

Before its fall, Egypt held the monopoly on glass making throughout the known world. When the Romans invaded Egypt, they quickly adopted the glass making secrets discovered. It was, in fact, the Romans who continued the development of glass making with the introduction of glass blowing, around the 1st century BC. It was from this Roman development of glass making that led to the production of glass through out the Western world.

In the meantime, the Chinese had discovered glass which, in ancient China, was attributed with special properties such as the ability to keep evil spirits away. It was also considered to have healing properties being associated with gemstones and crystals, however, prior to the 17th century, the Chinese found little use for this product.

It should be remembered that, up until the 19th century, architecture worldwide used very little glass in windows, with the Chinese favouring sheets of translucent paper. Nor was glass required for storage purposes due to China's highly developed and refined production of porcelain.

While China had been producing glass since about 700 BC with various small glass workshops operating throughout the country, most of these workshops with their small random outputs, were short lived.

It is also apparent that glass did not rate Imperial patronage until the late 17th century with the Kang Xi Emperor (1662-1722) establishing the first state glass factory as an Imperial workshop in 1696. The workshop was located within the palace walls of the Forbidden City and was staffed with the best craftsmen to be found in China.

The beautiful Chinese glass, so well known in the West as "Peking glass", was in fact, introduced to the Chinese by a 17th century German Jesuit missionary priest. The missionary supervised the establishment of the Imperial workshop and brought many Western techniques of glass and enamel work to the Chinese court. As a result, Peking glass has been correctly described as a "stepchild" in the great family of Chinese decorative arts.

Interestingly, it was the introduction of snuff, or, finely powdered tobacco, that led to the establishment of the Imperial workshop. When Europeans first arrived in China, not only did they discover new and exciting things, but the Chinese, equally unaware of the Western world, discovered ideas new to China and snuff taking was one of them!

Due to the fast developing habit of using snuff at the Imperial court and it quickly gaining popularity in high society, glass snuff bottles were produced. The Imperial workshop commenced production of tiny bottles specifically, for the purpose of containing snuff or powdered tobacco being for use by the Imperial family, or, given as gifts to civil and military ministers of the Imperial court and foreign diplomats.

These early productions were monochromes or, single colours in Imperial egg yolk yellow, ruby red and opaline green. They were of simple shape, or, ''scholar's taste'', ranging from plain to highly decorative pieces with multicolored glass overlays, the glass being either carved or faceted.

Overlay glass was later developed. This involved dipping a glass item into a vat of molten glass of contrasting colour. The shape was then cooled, requiring a 3 day period after which it was decoratively carved revealing the original coloured layer of glass.

Glass carving is a lengthy and tedious process, both time consuming and labour intensive. The final shaping and polishing is done by hand in the traditional jade-cutting process of methodical grinding and polishing.

Today, Peking glass is found in many forms both functional and purely decorative.

Create a home theater decorating your basement or (other space) into a media room that is both functional and comfortable.

A basement is one of the best places to turn into a media room. It generally has fewer windows and a room without windows is ideal. It is easier to control the light and the interference from outside light won't cause glares to the screen or distract the entertainment.

Prepare the room for good acoustics as much as possible to optimally experience movies and if you are starting your project from scratch use sound proof drywall and insulation for the walls.

Sound reverberates off hard surfaces like wood or tile so this is one room where wall to wall carpet in dark colors' work best and hanging draperies or other sound absorbing items on the walls are necessary.

Furnishing the room with big soft furniture will also insulate sounds from the outside.

Window treatments help to absorb sound and also control the light entering the room. Choose heavy fabrics for draperies and have them overlap in the center by a few inches and extend the windows at each side to block any slivers of light.

Controlling the light is a major factor in the success of your home theater decorating.

Try to avoid overhead lights. They may produce a glare in the room.

Lighting should be on dimmers to truly capture the movie theater experience and if possible locate the control near the seating area.

Sconces lining the wall will offer soft lighting that can also be controlled with dimmers.

Consider any light coming in from under doors, closets or other openings into the room and block at the bottom with weather stripping.

The quality of movie viewing is affected by paint color.

To ensure an optimal viewing experience, paint your home theater decorating space with deep colors such as charcoal gray, chocolate brown or deep red or plum.

Use matte finish paints to avoid reflections or choose textured wall coverings or fabric for the walls in dark colors.

The basic component of home theater decorating is the TV.

Consider the amount of available space you have before buying a big screen tv.

The viewing quality is affected by the distance from the screen as much as the size of the screen itself. The larger the screen the farther the distance must be between it and the seating area.

To calculate, multiply the diagonal of the tv size by 2"-2.5" and that should give you an idea on the distance the seating should be.
For example, take a 30" tv screen multiply the screen size by two. 60" or 5 feet of viewing distance from the tv.

A 55" tv is best viewed from a distance of nine feet.

For your home theater decorating, use a theater system of six speakers to provide high quality sound.
A left and right speaker for each side, one speaker for in the center, and two surround speakers for in the back, and a sub woofer.

Manufacturers design specially made cable accommodating pieces for housing electronic equipment in exquisitely crafted armoires, credenzas and modular units.

These cabinets accept a variety of tv sizes and are available in styles suited for most everyone.

Be sure to compare both the width and the depth with your tv. A display wall with a media cabinet in the middle is an effective and stylish solution.

Most pieces will include storage for videos or CD's and some will feature pocket doors to close off the tv when not in use.

Center seating for optimal sound and screen viewing.

A seating arrangement with large sofas, or sectional sofa units is a great way to seat a lot of people and accommodate kids comfortably.

A set of recliners, swivel chairs or chairs with castors can seat guests individually and offers many alternatives for lounging. High backs support the neck but not too high that affects the surround sound.

Choose upholstery materials in dark colors that are easily cleaned, like the washable suede, lightly textured chenille, brushed twill, and leather.

Have tables within reach for each guest when possible. Use wood tables with a low sheen finish, or ottomans that can be used for supplement seating.

Now pass the popcorn!

New Digital broadcast subchannels?

My favorite TV channel, The Tube ceased operations. The Tube was a music video channel. I received on an over the air broadcast as Channel 17.2 from WPHL in Philadelphia. Other channels have news and weather on their digital subchannels. I was hoping that The Tube was the beginning of many broadcast subchannels that will come about with HDTV. Are there any other broadcast subchannels in the works?

I've been looking for a few also and haven't been able to find anything worthy to note.

If you're designing and building a home movie theater, you need to think about creating a fantastic sound environment with your home theater speaker placement. You'll find that five speakers and a subwoofer are standard with most surround sound systems.

For truly immersive sound that makes you feel like you're really "there," you'll need smaller speakers set up both behind and in front of your listeners. The best placement of these speakers can involve calculations based on sound waves and physics.

But that's needlessly complicated. Once you have a grasp of the general idea, you can experiment with different placements until you find the best solution that works for you.

Remember that's it's impossible to have a perfect surround sound system if the acoustics of your room aren't perfect to begin with-- and ten to one, your room is NOT acoustically perfect. Don't set yourself up for disappointment by expecting perfection.

You should trust your ears and decide on what works best for your home theater speaker placement. But feel free to use the manufacturer's instruction manual.

Center channel speaker -- The center channel speaker should be centered just beneath the screen. This will output on-screen sound such as conversations, so for the sake of realism you will want it very close to the television.

Front left and right speakers -- Ideally, these speakers should be installed at ear level when you're sitting. Theoretically you could get away with placing them higher by angling them downward, but you won't get the best results this way.

The movie soundtrack will come from these two speakers, splitting the stereo sound of the music. When you install these two speakers, they should be just as far away from the listener as the center channel speaker. Imagine an arc that encompasses all three speakers when viewed from above.

Surround speakers -- These speakers should be positioned right behind the listener to the right and left. They will be a good deal higher than the other speakers, approximately ear level when standing.

You can better experiment with the positioning if they come with stands or adjustable brackets. Find out how it feels like when you let the sound bounce off the walls first before listeners hear it; it can be surprisingly realistic.

Before you http://www.buildahometheater.org Build a Home Theater be sure to check out our http://www.buildahometheater.org/home-theater-set-up.html Home Theater Set Up and http://www.buildahometheater.org/home-theater-decor.html Home Theater Decor

how do i plug surround sound speakers into my tv when all i've got is speaker cable? do i need an amp?

santa got me some lovely surround sound speakers for crimbo...however...they don't come with red, yellow, white audio thing. all i've got is metres of speaker cable which is easy to stick in the back of the speakers but how do i hook it up to the tv? please don't tell me i need an amp!!!

sorry you need a receiver to run the speakers.

you can grab an entry level one like this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8249745&type=product&id=1169512508577

to start your first "home theater system" you will be able to add a center channel, rear speakers and a sub to that as well. Obviously you will be able to play your TV, comp, CD, DVD, video games through it as well
