Home theater problem?!?

I have a 1080p Blu-ray player (sony BDP-S360), a 1080p AV Receiver (Denon AVR-2310) and a 1080p Projector. The problem is that the system only works on 1080i !!

The Blu-ray is connected to the AV Receiver with a HDMI 1.3,
and the Receiver is connected to the Projector with a HDMI 1.3.

But when I switch to HDMI format (1080p) on my Blu-ray settings the picture goes out!
Now I'm on the Component Video Format (1080i) and the system works perfectly even if I the blu ray player is connected to the receiver with an HDMI and not with Component Video!

When I'm on the 1080p resolution I only can see the Blu ray movie, when I go to the Menu of my Blu ray player or I watch a DVD the picture dissapears and it says: resolution not supported.

Just FYI: The blu ray is a source. It send signals to the television. Very few signals are sent in 1080p, must signals are sent in 1080i. Your television resolution is1080p.

Your blu ray is responding to the request that it sends a 1080p signal and the blu ray disc is only a 1080i. This is why your signal is going out.

LG BD390 Blu-ray Player: Although it was Sony that has brought us the Blu-ray disc format, at the time of writing it is LG that manufactures the best Blu-ray player in the market. The great Blu-ray and DVD movie playback is just the beginning of the long list on what is great about this player. Whether it is in terms of loading speed and video quality, the BD390 came up on top of its class. Besides having a great video playback, it also comes with many great features. For starters it has built-in wi-fi capabilities so that you would not have to connect a cable to view online content. Once connected to the internet, you can view online content from YouTube, Netflix and CinemaNow. This player comes with on-board decoding for DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD audio signals. It also has 7.1 analog outputs.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Player: The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is another bag of goodies. It has excellent movie playback (especially for Blu-ray discs) and comes with an array of extra features. It does not have many of the extra features of the two models above but serves its main purpose (playing Blu-ray movies) really well. The loading time was pretty fast and the video quality was generally very good. It is the perfect buy for anyone who is looking for a simple and straightforward BR player.

what the differnce between a sony BDP S350 blu ray player and a sony BDP S300 blu ray player?

which one should I get

The s-300 is the old model of the s-350. The s-350 is less bulky, has faster loading times, and outputs dts-hd over bitstream. I would choose the s-350, because it is the newest model.

why doesn't my blue ray player play the disc?

I have a Sony BDP-S300 and I bought the Ironman Blue rey disc, when I put the disk in there it said "it can't play"
I downloaded the update and now the version on the blue ray player is 4.20, ( it used to be 3.95) but it still says "it can't play"
there is nothing wrong with the disc because Pirates of the Caribbean disc has the same problem.
What should I do?

Hmmm...

Did you just buy this? I think I'd take it back at this point.

Is the Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player any good?

I just bought a Sony Bravia 1080p LCD TV and want to get a good blu-ray player. The reviews for the Sony BDP-S350 seem to be mixed. I would like to spend no more than 200-300 on one. So does anybody have a good blu-ray player or know of one?

The Sony BDP-S350 is a solid player. However, in my opinion the best Blu-ray player (beside the PS3) is the Panasonic DMP-BD35. It's cnet's highest rated stand-alone player. Costco has them for $280-$50 coupon=$230. Not bad for the best player out there.

I believe the Sony plays more DVD formats, but the Panasonic is able to decode both HD audio formats. The Sony can't decode DTS-HD MA. Though this doesn't matter if you don't or won't have a home theater system.

That said, the PS3 is still the best player out there in my opinion.

How do you download firmware to blu-ray disc player?

I am trying to watch a movie on my BD player (Samsung BD-1400) but apparantley I need to download the latest firmware before I can watch this particular film. I went to the Samsung website and found the firmware but it does not explain how to download it to the player. Can someone help me do this please?

Connect an spare Ethernet ( internet ) cable to the back of the Samsung player, and follow the menu directions in the first link below.
This is simpler than burning an ISO image of the downloaded software, and playing it in the player.

The scalar lets you connect the standard definition enabled equipment, like, DVD player, video game, VCR, etc., to HDTV display devices, such as Plasma or LCD screen TVs. For example, with a converted PAL video signal at its input, a video scalar can display video on projectors that do not support 50Hz refresh rates.

DCDi is a video mode algorithm and has been designed for video displays featuring fast moving sports events.
