Mounting ceiling speakers in a wall?

I have a 7.1 surround sound receiver. I bought a 5.1 speaker set and am buying 2 additional speakers for the middle satellite speakers. I need in-wall speakers for logistic reasons. Most of the in-wall speakers are too big for the location I need but the round shape of the in-ceiling speakers would work.

Are there any issues with using in-ceiling speakers in a side-wall?

I did the same thing using a 9.1 system. Basically make sure of the depth of the wall. Some inner walls are not deep enough to accommodate the speaker. I used Polk, a little more expensive but the end result was satisfying considering that you don't want to be cutting into your drywall and running cable more than once.

I need help setting up my Rogers box to receiver for surround sound?

We bought a new samsung TV, we upgraded from an old tv with no HDMI. we have a HD rogers box and im wondering how to hook up the rogers box to the receiver for surround sound. we got picture for the rogers but no audio is coming through the speakers. I used those red and white cables from the back of the rogers box to the receiver to try and get surround sound for TV, but its not working. What am i doing wrong? Can anyone tell me the proper way to do all the setup?

Red/white is stereo analog sound ... not surround. You need HDMI or optical (or coax digital, but that's not too common on cable boxes). You may have to set the sound output via the menu on the cable box. I use Bell, so can't say for Rogers (and you don't specify the model cablebox), but on some HD models the audio isn't available via HDMI ... you have to use optical. Finally, you may have to select the optical input port (assign to "TV/SAT") on the receiver to get it to work.

The forum at the link is a good place to get info/ask questions re Rogers.

Hi I want to buy home theater surround sound speakers. If there anything that I should know?

Hi I was thinking buying home theater surround sound speakers at Bestbuy. I am only thinking spending $600 or less & maybe Bose it is a good choice. Ok is there anything that I should I know before I buy one? Example, like warranty,HDMI port, supports True HD Sound or DTS? Thank you.
Yes I do need Audio receiver & 5 or 7 speakers.

First of all, Best Buy, not so good. You could likely do better, with a wider choice of good quality speaker makers, by looking for gear on amazon.com. Plus, they offer free shipping on some equipment, and usually it also means no sales tax (Unless you live in NY State).
Now, do you need a home theatre receiver *and* a set of HT speakers, or just the speakers ?
On amazon, you can get a great Polk 5.1 speaker system, #6750, 6 speakers, list price $600, for about $250. If you need to make that into a 7.1 system, just add two more Polk speakers, such as the #6751s for about $60 each.
They have available 7.1 receivers such as the Onkyo TX-SR575, list price $400, for $220.36, with free shipping.
In speakers, Polk, Infinity & JBL are really good brands, and in receivers, Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, and Onkyo are among the best for good quality.
So, if you got the items that I listed, you'd have a name brand system, with 8 speakers and a great 7.1 receiver, for just about $600.
Bose is good, but its way overpriced. You pay for their name and their styling.
Buying new from amazon gets you full manufacturers warranties, and the rest is what you want your gear to have. So, if you want HDMI connections, them read the product descriptions so as to see how many ins and outs of each type the receivers that you look at have. The speakers only will have their standard connections. With them, get some good quality standard 16 gauge speaker wire. Theres no need for expensive premium wires.

A car sound or audio system is considered by many people as one of the essential items. A high quality system generally includes an FM/AM tuner, an amplifier, tuner and speakers. In all of these, an amplifier is usually recommended, however it is an optional feature.

Always remember this fact that car audios are not comparable with the system used in homes because a car is small with so many noises and traffic environment all around. So, in such a moving environment it is not important that your system works well. However, before purchasing any system it is very important to search about it. You can simply search through internet to make a best purchase. Check various magazines and reviews about such product to make a wise purchase.

Always try to make deals with well known companies and brands in this regard. Try to make it sure that the company return or exchange components in case these do not suit to your car and requirement. Always try to give priority to the personal tastes. This generally means that many people like country and rock music. For those people stronger range systems are required. On the other hand there are many people who are more interested in classical and light music. For that purpose system with soft and mid ranges are also suitable.

It is better to compare various systems so that you can judge which one really suits to you and your car. Two types of components used in audio system involve in dash and under dash parts. Under dash parts are easier to install. However, remember under dash parts are not so safe and thief can easily slip out these parts. Amplifiers are usually used to set various ranges and tones. These amplifiers are big enough and bulky so these must be installed carefully under a seat or in trunk.

After buying amplifiers remember that you should buy such speakers that can better go with these amplifiers. They must be compatible with each other. So you can purchase both of these components in a single package to avoid any further inconvenience.

Come visit the author latest websites on Car Stereo Systems and Car Audio Speakers

Connecting iPods to speakers in surround sound system?

I'm looking to buy a surround sound system e.g. Majestic HTS-52 Active 5.1 Speaker System

the product info says that it is "iPod compatible". I presume that this means it can be connected by an aux lead (although please correct me if i'm wrong). I was wondering if this will provide good sound quality and if there are any other problems connected..?

thanks

No problems....I have an iPhone and I connect it to my home theater system. I bought the special cable at Wal-mart for $15 since I wanted video as well.

Does anyone know how to turn the speakers off on a samsung lcd hdtv? I have a sony surround system hooked up to it and the only way I can get the full effect out of my system is to turn the speakers off on the tv. Does anyone know how to do this?

Menu
audio settings
the menu is actually set up to ask you if you are going to use surround sound, come to think of it, if you have a HDtv just mute the dang thing and use audio out from your HD receiver or the DVD player when not watching local on air TV , cuz that is only broadcast in stereo.

Introduction:

The Samsung LN40B550 is an extraordinary flat panel LCD-HDTV with a beautiful 40 inch widescreen display. The device offers 1080 pixilated vertical, progressive scanning, has Wiselink capabilities, and is a set that is connectivity intense. Whether for the office or for the home, this set is excellent when it comes to viewing angles, and it can be viewed easily when wall mounted or set up on an appropriate stand.

The LN40B550 is 26 inches high when it is used with its included swivel stand and 24 inches high when it is wall mounted. It has a 40 inch wide screen and it is 3 inches deep without its base. With the base the product weighs nearly 40 pounds: without it, the set weighs 32.8 pounds in all.

Display Properties:

1080 vertical resolution

1920 x 1080 pixel maximum resolution

Aspect Ratio: 16 to 9

Contrast ratio: 70k to 1, dynamic

Widescreen Size: 40 inches

What Is Included?

The LN40B550 is sold along with an optional swivel base. Integrated into the housing of this superlative LCD-HDTV is Samsung's remarkable Touch of Color® design; the latter of which contrasts a deep rich, hint of red against the deep, shiny black of the housing along the bezel edge of the set's cabinet. The device comes complete with a user friendly manual too.

Product Capabilities:

The Samsung LN40B550's interior holds an embedded, sensitive HDTV tuner which is capable of detecting digital signals and interpreting them for viewing. This device is not offered in a cable ready version so a cable box or satellite system is required for such programming. The programming images are automatically enhanced by color enhancers, and the impressive contrast ratio makes sure that every image is sharp, crisp, and perfectly presented.

Viewing angles are diverse when one is using the LN40B550; when mounted on a wall, or when positioned on the base, this set already has a viewing angle of 178 degrees in four different directions. The swivel base increases the diversity of positioning as well. If the consumer wants to have this device wall mounted, the separate equipment for mounting will need to be purchased since the equipment is not sold with the HDTV.

This HDTV has splendid connectivity features; the LN40B550 has a total of four HDMI input devices, two component video inputs, and two composite inputs as well as one personal computer input. This HDTV does lack, however, any S-video inputs and DVI inputs. Dual speakers consisting of 10 watts are affixed into the cabinet of the Samsung LN40B550, and they offer surround sound effects.

The Samsung LN40B550 has a response time equivalent to 5 milliseconds, making it a second faster in terms of response time to the Samsung 32 inch and 37 models: this makes this set even better for high impact and action packed scenes. Consumers also get parental controls via the included V-chip inside the Samsung LN40B550, and this device is trilingual, has gaming modes, and an on screen navigate-able menu, as well as a sleep timer and alarm.

Rony WS is a niche product researcher. He is a true HDTV enthusiast! Take a look at his website to find out more information about Samsung LN40B550 ! Click => http://www.samsungln40b550.net/

How do I find what my computer is worth? What price should I sell for?

eBay does not have my model PC with the components I have in it, because I added a good deal myself. I was looking for a website that would take into account all of your system specs and give you an estimate price. If no one knows such a site, perhaps you could give rough estimates based on the info below:

HP m7100y Media Center PC
Windows Vista Ultimate
3.0GHz Pentium 4 HT
3GB RAM
80GB HardDrive
512MB ATI Radeon graphics card (x2 DVI, x1 S-Video, I'm running 2 big LCD displays...which I'm keeping)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ZS2 Soundcard
TV Tuner Card with HP/Microsoft remote control
Wireless Keyboard and Mouse (HP)
Universal memory card reader in front, with an expansion bay for additional storage

The system works flawlessly. Vista Ultimate is incredible on it, especially with Media Center and dual LCD displays. But I want to upgrade to an Intel Quad-Core computer from Velocity Micro, so I'll sell this one and pay the difference. Thanks for the help.

Computers depreciate 90% in 3 years. probably 500$ at best. Is the warranty transferable? Having a transferable warranty retains value because the person you sell it to can get it fixed for free if there are any issues.

I have a house I want to put an in the ceiling surround sound system in, they have to mount flush and everyhting is prewired, besided Bose what are some better brands?

There are many good in wall speakers. Paradigm is a good speaker for the price. Stay away from the mass market brands (pioneer, sony, etc) if you want real quality. Klipsch, definitive technology, schnell, M & K are all very good as well. I suggest you visit as many audio/home theater stores to listen for yourself. Everyone has their own preference.
